"Assisted suicide: practices, values and regulations"
The third NRP 67 dialogue event is devoted to the topic of assisted suicide.
From an international perspective, Switzerland pursues a tolerant policy towards assisted suicide. Although assisted suicide accounts for only a small percentage of deaths in Switzerland, the figure has been rising significantly in recent years. Results from NRP 67 "End of Life" dealing with assisted suicide, values and attitudes, and the relevant legal provisions will be presented at the dialogue event. Representatives of government, organisations offering suicide assistance and ethics committees will comment on the findings with regard to areas where practical action is needed. There will also be a discussion between them and the researchers, to which all attendees at the event are invited to contribute.
